This past weekend we started demo on the kitchen. Very exciting stuff!
My husband was even sweet enough to let me take the first swing at the wall :) It took me two whole swings to make this nice hole... I know it's not much, but it's still exciting!
Here's what else happened mostly on Saturday.....
If you can believe it, there was only ONE (one!) nail per stud holding up these heavy ass cabinets! These were original to the house, so that one nail has been holding up solid wood since the 1940's. Crazy.
All the cabinets and trim are now down. The after-thought counter top is in the dumpster. YAY!
The only cabinet that is still in is the one with the sink. The water has no shut off, so we're waiting to take it out.
The original hardwood floors, topped with what we're pretty sure is asbestos tile and then some ugly vinyl.
With all of the cabinets gone, the walls are next! Jamie plans to get those down while I'm in Washington over the weekend.
Meanwhile, the kitchen remodel is certainly affecting the rest of our home as well. There's crap everywhere....
We also ordered our flooring on Sunday and our appliances were delivered last week. Now our only big thing left is the counter top.
