Keeley Rae Murdock, an interior designer in her thirties, it set to marry the oh-so-attractive A.J. Jernigan. On the night of their rehearsal dinner at the most posh country club in Madison, Georgia, Keeley finds her soon to be husband engaging in some "extra-curricular activities" with her best friend (and maid of honor) in the board room.
Feeling heart-broken and betrayed, she pours herself into her work. However, her ex-fiances family seems to be doing whatever they can to put her and her Aunt Gloria out of business.
Soon after, Keeley is approached by a wealthy man, Will Mahoney, who has just purchased two area properties. One being the failing bra plant, which he plans to bring back to life. The other is a run down old house that is beyond help. Will wants Keeley to help him fix this house up on an impossible deadline, but he also has other plans for her.
Keeley and her father have been on their own for the last 25 years, thinking that her mother had up and left them in 1979. What happens seemed like something that belonged in another book entirely.
This was a good book, but the stories seemed not to relate to each other at all. The two story lines were both very well written, but they didn't "mold" together like I think they should have. Mary Kay Andrews was able to tie things in here and and there, but I felt like the book went from hilarious to dead-serious too quickly. It was sort of like a page-by-page roller coaster.
Would I recommend this book? It depends. If you like the mood of the book you're reading to change constantly, then yes.
