After her disappearing act to Italy to save Edward, Charlie practically has Bella on house arrest. With limited Edward time and never seeing Jacob anymore, Bella can't wait for the punishment to be lifted. When Edward is allowed over, they spend their time filling out college applications... then he sneaks back to spend the night - what Charlie doesn't know won't hurt him!
When Charlie suddenly decides that she has done her time, Bella tells Edward that she needs to see Jacob - she wants to fix their friendship. Edward is reluctant at first because he fears for her safety around all the werewolves. After some convincing, Edward agrees to let Bella visit Jacob on the reservation. When Jacob confesses to Bella that he is in love with her, she doesn't know what to think or how to feel. Later, though she knew it was coming, Edward proposes to Bella. She accepts even though she has an aversion to the idea of being married so young.
Meanwhile, there is something strange happening in Seattle. Newborn vampires seem to be on a rampage, leaving a murderous trail. When Bella and the Cullens piece together the information that Victoria is behind everything, an unheard of alliance forms and the Cullens and La Push werewolf pack team up for war.
With the plan in place for the fight, Jacob, Edward and Bella head to a hideout in the mountains. An awkward night in a tent ensues, with Bella being warmed by Jacob in a sleeping bag and Edward angrily watching them. The next morning, Jacob overhears Edward and Bella discussing their engagement and decides to join in the fight. Bella doesn't want him to fight, so she asks him to kiss her - then realizing that she loves him as well.
While the battle happens in the meadow, Victoria has tracked Bella. Edward fights Victoria and her newborn helper, Riley, with the help of werewolf Seth Clearwater. Edward and Seth win their battle, as do the Cullens and other werewolves in the meadow.
After the fight is over, Bella feels the need to explain to Jacob that she does love him, but her love for Edward is greater. There's no changing her mind, she will become like him. Edward and Bella are officially engaged, and rather than the drive-thru Vegas wedding that they discussed - Alice takes over the planning. August 13th, one month before Bella's birthday.
When Jacob receives a wedding invitation from Edward, he is heartbroken. He runs away in wolf form to get away from the wave of emotions he's feeling. Jacob will lose his best friend to a vampire.

This book was my favorite of the three I've read so far. Every page of it drew me in. But Chapter 20 was my absolute favorite, I read it over three times! I'm very excited for the movie to come out on June 30th!
The only thing that bothers me is Bellas reaction to marriage. She is willing to give up everything to become a vampire and be with Edward forever, but she doesn't want to get married? That just doesn't make sense to me.
"Breaking Dawn" is up next!
Would I recommend this book? I sure would!
