Book Review: "The Devil's Labyrinth"

"The Devil's Labyrinth" by John Saul

Let me just say that this book was all sorts of disturbing.

This book is about a boy, Ryan, and his mother. Ryans father died unexpectedly while in Kuwait, sending Ryan on an emotional roller coaster. After a few years, his mother moves on and starts seeing someone new, Tom Kelly.

After a few run-ins with bullies at school, his mother and Tom Kelly decide that it would be a good idea for Ryan to start going to a new school. Tom happens to know a priest at St. Issac's Catholic Boarding School and fast tracks his admission. Ryan is reluctant at first, but after a while thinks that it may be the best choice for him.

As soon as Ryan arrives, everything is far from normal at St. Issac's. He moves into his new room, where he learns that the student he has replaced suffered a mental break and was killed by police while committing a murder. The stories of other happenings just keep coming to him, until Ryan experiences all of this first hand. But can he snap out of it before it's too late?

I won't lie, this book actually gave me a nightmare! It was pretty messed up at times.

Would I recommend it? Yes, but not if you have a weak stomach! There are some seriously gory details.
