"Breaking Dawn" is broken down into three separate parts. I'll break down my review according to the three parts - mostly to make it easier to understand this insanely long book! So warning, this review will likely be long as well!Part One: Bella
Edward and Bella are officially engaged and Alice has taken to planning the fast approaching wedding. Against Bellas wishes, Edward has purchased her a car - a "before" car - she'll received a different car after she has been transformed. Meanwhile, she's stuck driving the armor car that is the Mercedes Guardian.
Jacob still hasn't returned since running off at the end of "Eclipse". Charlie has taken it into his own hands to search for him, but Bella has been getting updates from Seth, a younger werewolf. Jacob is ok, but still heartbroken.
The night before the wedding, Emmett and Jasper take Edward on a hunting trip for his bachelor party. This leaves Bella alone with her nightmares. She dreams of the Volturi coming for something, and she's doing all she can to protect a young boy - a young boy with blood red eyes. She wakes, angry with herself for dreaming of such horrible things the night before her wedding.
Alice picks her up and sweeps her away for all the wedding day preparation. After hours of perfecting Bella, the time has come for the wedding. Everything sounds breathtaking (I'm excited to see this in the movie!) and all of Bellas nerves sweep away when she sees Edward. They say their vows and the party begins.
The reception is nothing short of wonderful. Bella gets an unexpected surprise when Jacob shows up to show his support. After saying their goodbyes, Bella and Edward head to the airport to take off on their honeymoon - of which the location is a surprise to Bella.
The arrive at Isle Esme, which was a gift from Carlisle to Esme. Edward keeps his promise to Bella to make love to her while she's still human. Throughout the honeymoon, Bella experiences very vivid dreams and cravings. When she pieces everything together, she realizes that she may be pregnant - something that the vampires didn't realize was possible. They rush back to Forks, were Carlisle confirms the pregnancy.
Bella wants nothing more than to keep the child. Edward thinks it's dangerous and wants to "get rid of it". With help from Rosalie, Bella gets her wish.
Part Two: Jacob
Jacob learns of Bellas pregnancy and he's not happy about it. She is still human and he wonders how they will keep this from Charlie. When Jacob share the news with his pack, they feel that it would be best for everyones safety if the child were destroyed - which would mean killing Bella as well.
Jacob wants nothing of that, and breaks off to form his own pack. Seth and Leah Clearwater soon join him. He feels the need to protect Bella and the Cullens from the packs plans. Jacob feels a pull towards her that he can't break, even through the vampire scent.
Bella is weakening, and the only thing that seems to be helping is for her to drink human blood. It makes her stronger and helps the baby as well. The baby is growing at an alarming pace, breaking Bellas bones and bruising her from the inside out - the pregnancy appears to be almost full term when she has only been pregnant for a few weeks.
Jacob watches in horror as Bella goes into labor - a detached placenta that calls for the baby to be removed immediately. They do all they can to get the baby out quickly, while Bella deteriorates quickly. Edward and Jacob are left to do what they can to save her.
Edward and Bellas daughter, Renesmee is born. Bella gets to see her before quickly slipping unconscious. The only thing that they can do to save her is for Edward to change her.
Part Three: Bella
We're now back to Bella's perspective of what's going on. She has endured nearly three days of "burning" - she was transforming into a vampire. When she can finally open her eyes, she's utterly amazed at how clear everything has become. Even more amazed that she feels completely like her old self... only better.
Bella wants to see Renesmee, but Edward insists that they hunt first because their daughter it part human. During the hunt, Bella stuns Edward by stopping herself from hunting a human - which is said to be impossible for a "newborn" vampire. The others can't believe it either.
When she finally meets her daughter, she learns that Renesmee has a special gift. Her growth and development is amazing and she is the most beautiful child that she has ever seen. Bella soon learns that Jacob has imprinted on Renesmee and rage takes over her.
For Bellas birthday, the family gives Bella and Edward a home - a small cottage (with a fully stocked closet provided by Alice) in the woods near the main home. This gives them a chance for alone time and time to talk things over.
Charlie learns that Bella is better (he thought she had been sick) and insists on visiting. Bella does extremely well with being near him. He meets Renesmee and is completely smitten with her. He is amazed at how much she looks like Bella. Charlie is on a need-to-know basis with everything that is going on and they agree that it's probably best that Bellas mother knows as little as possible.
While hunting one day with Renesmee and Jacob, Bella sees Irina - a vampire from the Denali coven. Later they learn from one of Alices visions that Irina has gone to the Volturi to report that the the Cullens had created an immortal child. A plan is put into place to do whatever necessary to protect themselves and Renesmee.
When the Volturi arrives, they seem to have an agenda. Wanting nothing more than to abuse their power. Bella, with her newly discovered shield talent, does whatever she can to protect her family and everyone that is helping them. Alice and Jasper have tracked down another half vampire, half human that exists and bring him to the site of the action.
With the new proof of another crossbreed like Renesmee, it is decided that she is no threat to their secret. The Volturi retreat and the Cullens and their friends are left in peace.
Happily ever after. Forever.
******
I loved this book. However, I'm going to have to say that "Eclipse" is still my favorite. Some of the things in this book just got a little to far-fetched from the original story lines - yes, far-fetched even for a book about vampires and werewolves.
I'm still excited for "Eclipse" to hit theaters in June! I'm curious to see how they play out "Breaking Dawn" on the big screen without changing their movie rating - this book doesn't seem to fit the PG-13 rating that the current movies hold.
Would I recommend this book? Yes, it's just reeeaaaallly long!
